A Quai/ At the Quay

Mon père était fasciné par les bateaux, pas par les voiliers mais par les monstres à moteurs (paquebots & chalutiers). Etait-ce un désir inconscient de voyager? Une vocation de marin déguisée? Les observateurs reconnaitront le vieux port de Marseille et surtout la tour du Fanal du fort Saint Jean.

Pourtant, je n'ai pas eu l'impression que mon père aimait particulièrement Marseille, mais je crois que c'est la ville, en général, qu'il n'aimait pas, Elle est pourtant belle, cette ville, pas comme les autres, belle à peindre!

My father was fascinated by boats, not by sailboats but by motor monsters (ocean liners & trawlers). Was it an unconscious desire to travel? A seafaring vocation in disguise? Observers will recognize the old port of Marseille and especially the Fanal tower at Fort Saint Jean.

However, I did not have the impression that my father particularly liked Marseille, but I believe that it is the city, in general, that he did not like, It is however beautiful, this city, not like the others, beautiful to paint!
