La Palette/ The Palette

Sur la tombe de mon père, dans le petit cimetière de Llauro, accroché aux contreforts des Pyrénées, il n'y a pas de marbre, car on n'en avait pas les moyens! juste de la terre tassée car " tu es poussière & tu retourneras à la poussière...." Il y a une croix, bien sur, car mon père était, paradoxalement, très croyant et puis Il y a sa palette, comme unique signe distinctif, car la peinture a été, ce qui l'a distingué des autres hommes. Cette palette, il l'a peinte, de nombreuses fois, comme une mise en scène de sa propre création.

On my father's grave, in the small cemetery of Llauro, hanging on the foothills of the Pyrenees, there is no marble, because we could not afford it! just packed earth because "you are dust & you will return to dust ...." There is a cross, of course, because my father was, paradoxically, very believing and then there is his palette, as the only sign distinctive, because the painting was, what set it apart from other men. He painted this palette many times as a staging of his own creation.
