Le Nu Sombre/ The Dark Nude

Mes soeurs & moi, n'avons reçu, pour seul héritage collectif, que les tableaux de mon père. Cependant, chacun des enfants possède particulièrement, quelques tableaux, qui ont été choisis du vivant de notre père, quand nous étions encore enfants. Pourquoi celui-là plutôt qu'un autre? C'est inexplicable.

Ce Nu Sombre est par exemple, très inhabituel en terme de couleurs, très gothique et c'est ma soeur cadette: Anne, qui le possède & l'expose dans sa maison de Châteaudouble (83).

My sisters & I only received my father's paintings as a collective inheritance. However, each of the children has in particular, a few paintings, which were chosen during our father's lifetime, when we were still children. Why this one rather than another? It is inexplicable.

This Dark Nude is for example, very unusual in terms of colors, very gothic and it is my younger sister: Anne, who owns it and exhibits it in her house in Châteaudouble (83).
