La dernière "époque " de mon père, qui correspond à peu près aux années 1990, suit une profonde crise créative & personnelle. Quand il reprend, enfin, les pinceaux, quelque chose a changé, les couleurs sont moins "brutales", le style plus élaboré; il aurait certainement dit qu'il s'était apaisé, mais moi qui connais sa vie, je pourrais rajouter qu'il était usé & qu'il ne pouvait plus mettre autant d'énergie dans ses tableaux. La peinture n'est plus alors explosive, elle devient refuge & introspection.

My father's last "era", which roughly corresponds to the 1990s, follows a deep creative & personal crisis. When he finally picks up the brushes, something has changed, the colors are less "brutal", the style more elaborate; he would certainly have said that he had calmed down, but I, who know his life, could add that he was worn out & that he could no longer put as much energy into his paintings. The painting is no longer explosive, it becomes refuge & introspection.
