C'est, à mon avis, la seule oeuvre, de mon père qui représente, un instrument à vent, alors qu'il peignait des dizaines d'instruments à cordes, pour leurs qualités plastiques....Le saxophone est un instrument de musique à vent appartenant à la famille des bois. Il a été inventé par le Belge Adolphe Sax et breveté à Paris le 21 mars 1846.

It is, in my opinion, the only work of my father that represents a wind instrument, while he was painting dozens of stringed instruments, for their plastic qualities .... The saxophone is an instrument of wind music belonging to the woods family. It was invented by the Belgian Adolphe Sax and patented in Paris on March 21, 1846.
